Save Money…Refill Or Replacements?

Buying ink for your inkjet printer can be expensive. A lot of printer manufacturers make most of their profits from the sale of "consumable" ink for their printers. Replacing the inkjet cartridges bought from the manufacturer can cost an average of $35 to $40 per cartridge. You can reduce this expense by refilling the cartridges instead of replacing them.
A refill kit can cost about the same as a replacement cartridge. This kit contains enough ink to refill a cartridge four to five times. This kit contains everything that is needed to refill a cartridge. Besides the ink, the kit contains a syringe for replacing the ink and a mini drilling tool to break the seal on the cartridge.
Most printers use three colors, red, yellow and blue to create shades and tints of colors. Most print cartridges are a molded one piece container that holds each color in its own compartment. When one color of ink is used up, the cartridge can no longer accurately create most colors. The kit allows you to refill the compartment of the color that is depleted.
Printer cartridges are designed for use with a specific ink. Refilling printer cartridges with a different kind of ink can cause the inkjet nozzles to clog more frequently and the printer head to fail. Always choose a kit for refilling printer cartridges that was created specifically for your make and model of printer.
Aftermarket ink cartridges can be a very smart purchase. These ink cartridges are refurnished by the company that makes them. The old cartridges are recycled, the ink replaced, then resealed and labeled for resale. Depending where the aftermarket cartridges come from, they can be good purchases. Some companies that make these cartridges offer a warranty for customer satisfaction.
A recent study was made between new print cartridges and remanufactured ink refill brands. The results showed that the original print cartridges far surpassed the ink refills in quality and reliability. The study found that one out of every six refilled cartridges were dead on arrival or failed prematurely. They also found that the refilled brands were poor quality due to streaks and smudges they left behind. According to the results of this study only original print cartridges should be used as replacements.
There are other ways to save money on print refills. Shop around for the best offers. Be sure and check retail stores, online retailers and other places that sell cartridges. Check into making bulk purchases. They may cost more at a single time but the cost per cartridge is lower. There are numerous printer cartridge refills. It comes down to a personal preference of the computer user. You can take a chance on a refill kit if you want or stick to the tried and true method of using a new printer cartridge.
