More Printing, Less Money

Print cartridges are not cheap. Whether you are using a new replacement cartridge, a refilled cartridge or a refill kit to refill your old cartridges, the cost is approximately $35 to $40. If your job or personal usage has you printing in large quantities this can be very expensive. There are different ways to get the best value for your money and we are going to explore those avenues.
One way to make your cartridge last longer is to use the draft mode feature on your computer. The draft mode provides for a less quality print. Since this mode gives a less quality print job it is okay for printing everyday jobs. The draft mode is quicker and uses less ink.
Black ink cartridges are less expensive than the color cartridges. With this being the case, use black ink for most of your printing jobs. By switching to the grayscale printing feature on your computer, you don’t need the bright hues. This also uses less color ink.
Proof reading your document before printing them can also save your ink. Using the spell checker and grammar correction features, you are able to correct mistakes before printing documents. After making the corrections to your document, try running a print preview. Check the document carefully and make any other corrections that need to be made to the layout of the document.
Have you ever printed from a website on the Internet and gotten all kinds of things you didn’t need or want? Printing effectively for the web can also save printer ink. Under the Tools button, on most computers, is an option that makes it possible to print images and colors. By unchecking this box, you will print only what you need in black ink. Another feature that most web sites offer is the ability for a "printable version." This avoids printing all those unwanted advertisements and images.
You may notice that your ink supply is running low even if you are barely print. This is caused by the automatic routine maintenance your printer runs to clean the print heads. This can be avoided by turning off the printer when you aren’t using it for long periods of time, such as extended business trips or vacations. Printing on a regular basis can also avoid this issue. Regular printing keeps the ink on the print heads from building up.
Some companies have software programs that can make your ink supply last longer. According to these companies, these programs can make the ink last up to four times as long as normal. The printing software company also claims the printing to be at the computer’s highest print resolution.
As the cost of living goes up at a higher rate than most salaries, tightening the belt in all areas is necessary. Read your printer manual for recommendations on ways to print cost effectively. Buying printer cartridges can also reduce the price per cartridge. Keep printing but be smart about it.
